King David: Dense biblical tale tracks youthful David's life from boyhood battle with Goliath to anxious reign as emperor; only goes awry in second half, where abruptness sabotages narrative. This movie is visually striking, with Donald McAlpine's photography, Carl Davis' music, and hefty positive holdings-in conjunction with momentous behavior by Woodward as Baron Saul.
