There are a variety of people out there, especially those 30 and younger that haven't seen real turntables, although they may have seen them in a movie. People 20 and younger might not have even ever seen turntables in a movie.

A turntable is actually a machine that is designed to play vinyls and records. Turntables work through a special needle being dragged in the groove that is on the records that are played. This needle begins on the outside part of the record then moves towards the middle. The needle makes a oscillating electrical current. This then drives the sound into the speakers.

Today we take a lot of audio technology for granted, such as stereo sound and high fidelity, but these technologies came from the turntable. During the 1990s, CD players were released and turntables began to go out of style.

CDs became popular during the 80s and most of the music of that day was put on the CDs instead of LPs, which meant that most labels started using the CDs. With the CDs, people were able to quickly find the music they wanted to hear, they were cheap, provided great sound, and were more compact.

Some people still do appreciate all that turntables have to offer. For the records, analog instead of digital reproduction is used. This provides sounds that sound alive and very warm. Many of the records out there have never even been put into a digital format at all

Many of the people that even have turntables today have a nostalgic streak in them. They love hearing the old musical selections and love this form of music. It's just that this music is not available on the CDs out there.

St. Patricks Day Crafts II: Leprechaun Eyeglasses and Handprint Shamrock

St. Patricks Day is a fun celebration for everyone. Let your little ones enjoy St. Patricks Day by teaching them how to make their own Leprechaun eyeglasses . Leprechauns are said to vanish if you let them out of your sight. The legend also says that leprechauns have hidden treasures and the only way to get them is by catching and interrogating one.

To make Leprechaun glasses you must first gather the materials. You will need: a green construction or cardboard paper, a pipe cleaner, a pair of blunt-end scissors and green cellophane. Cut along the green construction paper or cardboard by making it into a glasses shape. Cut through the center to create eyeholes. Paste the green cellophane through the eyeholes. Poke or punch through the side ends of the glasses and insert the pipe cleaner, gently twist the end to set. Place it onto your kids ear and gently curl the end to settle in her ears.

To make handprint shamrock you must first gather the materials. You will need: light green and green-colored construction paper, scissors and glue. Place a childs hand on the green construction paper and trace. Make three hand traces following the shape of the three leafed clover. Next, cut out the hand traces. Place the hand trace on the light green construction paper and trace a big three-clover leaf. Cut it and glue a stem at the bottom using the green colored construction paper.

Have fun making these St. Patrick's Day crafts with your kids. Further enrich the experience by holding a St. Patricks Day craft school at your home. Invite your friends kids over your home and arrange crafts lessons for them to enjoy. Encourage the parents to participate too!
